CO Architects Promotes 17 Team Members for Exemplary Design Talent and Contributions
Design Principal, Associate Principal, Senior Associates, and Associates Recognized
LOS ANGELES: CO Architects, a leader in functional, green, and graceful solutions for healthcare, education, and research facilities, elevates Arnold Swanborn, AIA, LEED AP, to Design Principal, and Parini Mehta, AIA, LEED AP, and Phillip White, AIA, to Associate Principal. Tanner Clapham, AIA, and Jorge Colón, AIA, LEED AP, were promoted to Senior Associate. In addition, CO Architects has named 12 new Associates.

Arnold Swanborn, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted from Associate Principal to Design Principal. He joined CO Architects in 2008 and has more than 25 years of experience working with diverse, award-winning projects, such as the Life Sciences Building at Loyola Marymount University; Collaborative Life Sciences Building & Skourtes Tower for Oregon Health & Science University, Portland State University, and Oregon State University; and the Health Sciences Education Building and Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus. Arnold is responsible for leading teams by setting, developing, and integrating design direction for each project’s progressive stage. He excels in designing buildings that sustain civic virtues of community, public life, and human interaction while promoting learning and discovery. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Southern California in 1990, and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in 1994.
Parini Mehta, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted from Senior Associate to Associate Principal. She brings more than 10 years of experience in architecture, design, and medical planning to the firm. As a leader in healthcare design, she has managed projects for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and several private developers. At CO Architects, she guides the planning and design of high-performance buildings for leading healthcare organizations through a collaborative process with clients, consultants, and contractors. Parini currently serves as co-chair of the AIAlLA Healthcare committee, and received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan in 2001, as well as a Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture in 2006.
Phillip White, AIA, has been promoted from Senior Associate to Associate Principal. He has more than 20 years of experience as a project manager and senior technical leader for large-scale healthcare projects and university research and academic facilities. Phillip has led the design and construction of facilities for some of the nation’s most respected institutions, including the University of Arizona, as well as the University of California in Los Angeles and San Diego. Phillip joined the firm in 2016, and is a registered architect in California and New York. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, in 1995.
Tanner Clapham, AIA, has been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate. Since joining CO Architects in 2012, he has worked as a design manager and project architect on several medical and health sciences education buildings throughout the US, and has presented on these typologies at the Association of American Medical Colleges and EDSpaces conferences. Tanner’s recent health sciences project at the University of Kansas Medical Center has been published in several media outlets. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, in 2010.
Jorge Colón, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate. He brings nearly 20 years of design and management experience to his role as Director of Interior Architecture and Design. His work experience spans a broad range of projects, including academic, commercial, and residential buildings, as well as the adaptive reuse and renovation of interior spaces. In his role at CO Architects, Jorge guides the design process to deliver highly responsive and fully integrated interior environments. He received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1995, a Master of Architecture from Arizona State University in 1999, and a Master in Design Studies from Harvard University in 2011.
