Five CHENG Design Houses Open for Special Benefit Weekend | September 21 – 22, 2024

USModernist®, America’s largest open resource for Modernist architecture, presents special tours and a cocktail party focusing on the work of Berkeley-based designer Fu-Tung Cheng of CHENG Design. Four homes in Los Altos and Portola Valley are featured in tours on Saturday, September 21st, and a glamourous sunset cocktail party takes place in Tiburon on Sunday, September 22nd. Both events benefit USModernist, a 501C3 nonprofit educational archive for the documentation, preservation, and promotion of Modernist architecture.
For more than 30 years, CHENG Design has been at the forefront of crafting exquisite award-winning custom homes in California with sustainable, emotional, and timeless design. With a keen focus on crafted concrete, Cheng’s extensive experience brings the material into the realm of high design and artistic expression. Cheng will attend the Sunday night sunset cocktail party and visit selected Saturday houses.

About Fu-Tung Cheng
Fu-Tung Cheng is founder and principal of CHENG Design. Established in 1986, the acclaimed custom home and commercial-product design firm is based in Berkeley, CA. His work spawned the development of two additional complementary businesses: CHENG Products in 1998 and CHENG Concrete in 2004. Born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles as the youngest in a family of passionate artists, Fu-Tung graduated from University of California, Berkeley, in Fine Arts and is now an award-winning designer and best-selling author, internationally known for his sophisticated residential designs and innovative use of materials in the home.
