LOS ANGELES: D L English Design, a multi-disciplinary interior design firm with a focus on experiential consumer-driven spaces, is pleased to welcome Giovana P. Kuehn, LEED Green Associate, as Senior Designer.  Kuehn will support D L English Design’s sustainable design capabilities and enhance its robust portfolio, which includes clients such as Whole Foods Market, Wilshire Grand Central InterContinental Hotel, Mendocino Farms, Irvine Company Resort Properties, Vallarta Supermarkets, and Soriana in the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.  She brings more than a decade of international experience to the firm, including her work designing retail and hospitality projects, nationally recognized grocery stores, and high-rise residential developments.

Kuehn’s approach is largely driven by her upbringing in South America, where she was surrounded by Spanish-influenced architectural and interior design elements, and was especially captivated by intricate detailing and craftsmanship.  These details, along with the innovative use of materials, ranging from subtle to bold, inspire Kuehn in her day-to-day work.

“Giovana’s background and years of experience make her an invaluable asset to D L English Design,” says Deborah L. English, IIDA, CCID, Founder and President of her eponymous firm.  “Her demonstrated talent will provide additional depth and a fresh perspective to our growing portfolio.”

Kuehn joins the firm after serving as Senior Designer at CallisonRTKL in Los Angeles—a role she held for three years until joining D L English Design.  Previously, Kuehn worked as Interior Designer at Shook Kelley, Inc., a firm that specializes in retail design and urban planning, where she completed key projects from concept ideation through implementation during her seven-year tenure.  Kuehn states, “An interior designer’s primary responsibilities are to draw a relationship between the past and future of a space, and to ensure that the space is well received and influences its surroundings in a positive way.”

Kuehn has collaborated on a range of domestic and international projects, such as Santa Monica Seafood and Grand Hope Lofts in Los Angeles, CA; Monkeypod Kitchen in Wailea, HI; Freson Bros. Fresh Market in Alberta, Canada; BW Galerija Belgrade Waterfront in Belgrade, Serbia; and Shaoguan Mall City in Shaoguan, China.  “I am thrilled to be a part of an ever-evolving field, and to work alongside a talented group of visionaries at D L English Design,” says Kuehn.  “I look forward to a successful future with the firm.”

Outside of the office, Kuehn enjoys traveling on family trips, live music, and outdoor wellness, and is fluent in her native Spanish.  She developed her interior design expertise at Toulouse Lautrec in Lima, Peru, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in interior architecture in 2005.
